A script for me is a beginning and every beginning is both challenging and exciting. A script is also knowledge, curiosity and a huge responsibility.

Screenwriting requires good research skills and well-developed emotional intelligence. I could compare the screenwriter to a magician – you never know how the magic happens because a good screenwriter just like a good magician knows how to direct the viewer’s attention in such a way that the technicality of it all becomes invisible.

I very much admire the fact that the screenwriter acknowledges the bigger picture. They are well-aware that the script is the foundation of a film, TV project or a video game and it is bound to change in one way or another. To be the first to believe in a story is one thing but to be the person who inspires others to bring that story to life is a whole different ball game.

I would love to be able to go to my local bookshop and buy a screenplay but maybe there is a reason why that’s not possible, at least not in the majority of bookshops. Maybe it takes a special kind of reader to appreciate a good script. Whatever the reason, I would always view screenwriting as a craft and there is something romantic about mastering a craft. It feels as if you belong to the chosen ones who can see invisible patterns and build on top of them when other can’t see anything at all.

Last but not least, I feel like screenwriting requires for the writer to be vulnerable in order to feel the feels and create stories that people relate to. I truly hope that one day I would be able to trigger this type of response in someone with my work. I guess only time will tell.
